Panangad Grama Panchayat — From Maps to Biodiversity
In Panangad Grama Panchayat, Jaisen Nedumpala's work with technical interests such as GIS, OpenStreetMap, and open data later expanded into fields including biodiversity conservation, citizen science, People's Biodiversity Register, and digital documentation.
A notable example of this is Vayalada BioBlitz 2026.
In the 48-hour biodiversity survey held in Vayalada on August 8–9, 2026, students, nature observers, researchers, local residents, and citizen scientists participated. The main objective of the event was to document biodiversity components such as plants, birds, butterflies, moths, amphibians, and reptiles.
Panangad Grama Panchayat and the Biodiversity Management Committee were the primary organizers of the event. Various organizations and collectives, including the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, Malabar Natural History Society, Kerala Forests & Wildlife Department, Kerala Biodiversity Monitoring Network, Sahya Digital Conservation Foundation, and GeoMinds.in, participated as partners.
